On the last day in Virginia, we did aforementioned hikes, but not before getting lighter packs. We found a store called Walkabout Outfitters, which was a pretty cool place with all the hiking gear you would need and the manager was very helpful and knowledgeable with the gear and to add was a “thru-hiker” of the AT. I got myself the Osprey Stratos 28 which was definitely a great fitting pack!

The manager recommended another trail that featured rock scrambles and a great view, This was Bearfence! Don’t take your dog, there are many steep areas and scrambles for your four legged friend. This is a quick and highly recommended hike from me! The AT can be traveled on the way to the parking area. The next trail was up a ways and was one I wanted to hike since day one, Hawksbill.
The trail itself isn’t too bad reminds me of a service road upon the reaching the top there are two views and a shelter. The views are spectacular!
