A Necessary Item... Buff.

When we started hiking back in Arizona I knew it was going to be somewhat hot there and sunny although it’s was a dry heat and comfortable for me I knew that I would be exposed to a lot of sunlight. Since I less hair on my head than ten years ago I needed to be sure it was covered. So I had planned to bring just a hat and that was it. However while researching the trails and other activities we could do I ran into a video about the top pieces of gear to take when hiking. In the video he mentioned various items such as gaiters, packs, and Buffs. Buffs? I have seen the logo before, but never knew what it was. In the video it appeared to be nothing more than a little bit of cloth with two openings on either side. Simple right? However he described it as a must, sales pitch? Either way I was intrigued. So we flew out to Arizona hike a few as you already know and we had planned to go to a Big 5 Sports store which offered all kinds of items including Buffs, however they were sold out! These must be a hot commodity! So not entirely defeated we search on our phone for other places that sold Buffs an REI which was an outdoor outfitters store. Searching I found them pretty fast an saw a few of the designs they had from solid colors to outdoorsy designs they had quite a selection. There were also different types as well, they all offered UV protection, but some were for colder climates, some were for to stay cool while in hot climates. I came across one in  a olive drab, which is one of my favorite colors which offered UV protection, bug deterrent, and would keep me cool! Also a plus living in Pennsylvania we have a ton of bugs! I bought it and began to use it on the next hike although simple design I was impressed! You could use it as a headband, bandanna, balaclava, etc. I continue to wear them on my hikes because of the benefits they offer, this is one product I recommend to have in your pack for your outdoor adventure.
